Funds raised for Bratislava children’s home

The International Women’s Club of Bratislava (IWCB) is delighted to announce that is has reached its target of raising 8 124 Eur for Centrum pre deti a rodiny Bratislava, Röntgenova to purchase an essential piece of equipment that will improve the wellbeing of children in their care.

During the summer IWCB Members met with Centre Director Mr. Viliam Gyurke who explained the daily difficulties his staff faced when transporting children to and from essential medical care. Many children use wheelchairs so lifting them in and out of vehicles requires careful planning and execution. The installation of an electro-hydraulic platform into their van, would remove these daily challenges whilst improving the safety and comfort of both the children and staff.

Believing this a worthy cause the IWCB, with collaboration from partners and sponsors, namely; BKIS, +421Foundation, Superar, The Wave by RDS, fjúžn, Studienka, Bratislava accueil, Cambridge International School, Ecole Francaise de Bratislava, Institute Francais and with Mrs. Marta Janckarova as MC, held a Charity Flash Mob Dance in September to raise both awareness of the issue and funds towards the project.

It’s heartwarming to see how the community collaborated to make this dream a reality.

Donations from the Embassies and Representative offices, public during the event, online pledges, generous support from IWCB members and private individuals, plus sponsorship from our sponsors Rotary club Bratislava and British International School Bratislava lead to the target being successfully achieved. We have learnt that hope can make dreams come true. Never let anyone tell you otherwise.

This week the IWCB has launched its Christmas fundraising campaign in partnership Bratislava accueil. Full details can be found at www.iwc.sk/charity-tree

Mr. V. Gyurke and Mrs. M. Janckarova

“Thank you very much for helping us to raise funds for the hydraulic platform. Such an act of generosity means a lot to us, because it is not an item that will be used by our Center occasionally. It will help our children to get in and out of the car on a daily basis, and it will assist our employees that deal with loading and unloading children every day when transporting them to schools, doctors and in other situations.

Thanks to this platform, many things will change for the better and the lives of children and people helping them in the first place. It might look like it is just “one platform”, but this platform will enable us to take a big step ahead in child care we provide. Many thanks for the help” - Mr. Gyurke, director of the Centrum.
