Social activities

The IWCB has something for everyone. Whether you’re a keen crafter, someone who loves to walk in nature or if you’d rather have a chat over coffee (or Prosecco) there’s a social activity for you.

The interests of our members are as diverse as we are, and these interests have shaped the development of a programme of regular and ad hoc activities that aim to help members meet new friends, stay active and explore.

Our activities include;

  • Active - golf, tennis, hiking, BodyShape aerobics

  • Learning- Slovak and English Classes, Personal development workshops

  • Social - Mahjong, drinks evenings, coffee mornings, lunch of the month, book club

  • Creative - workshops e.g. pottery, painting, creative cooking

  • Exploring - Ad hoc days out e.g. Rust, Brno

Highlights

day trip to rust, austria

Our day trip to Rust, Austria in mid-August was a busy one. We enjoyed a lovely boat trip, followed by lunch then finishing off at a winery with a wine tasting.

painting on wood

The creative juices were flowing at both of our “paint on wood” workshops with Zuzzi Bee at Malamaison Hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed decorating our tissue boxes, mini trays and candlesticks using chalk paint and distressing techniques.

important women of bratislava tour

A group of members took part in a 2 hour guided tour of Bratislava, where our very knowledgable tour guide talked about the many important and famous women who either lived in, or spent significant time in Bratislava.

winter walk

An enjoyable, if not somewhat cold, walk took place in December 2020. It was one of the first post-lockdown socials we arranged. We enjoyed a snack of slivovica, Slovak pinwheel pastries and Kazakhstani chocolate!
